LIM JEN NEE
With more than 10 years’ experience in the media industry, Jen has shepherded countless projects as Producer/Writer, competently juggling numbers and drama. She also had stints in script development in Los Angeles, and film acquisition, marketing and distribution experiences in Singapore.
Under her stewardship, feature film Truth Be Told won Best Original Film at the Asian Film Festival of Rome 2007 while narrative web series People Like Us won Best Short TV Drama at the 2016 Independent Television & Film Festival, Best Web/TV Drama at the 2017 Formosa Festival of International Filmmaker Awards, and Best Supporting Actor at the 2017 Indie Series Awards. Jen is currently producing the second season of People Like Us as well as developing a slate of projects including feature films Feast (Torino Film Lab Extended – Singapore 2018) and psychological thriller Follower (NAFF It Project 2016 in BiFAN).
In addition to creative works, Jen has written and produced works for corporate clients such as British Petroleum and DBS Bank. She holds a BFA in Creative Producing from Chapman University Singapore, a BA in Multimedia Design from Curtin University of Technology and a Diploma in Film, Sound and Video from Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
ANDREW NGIN CHIANG MENG
Passionate writer with more than ten years of experience writing for local television, Chiang Meng is a Physics graduate, and a seven-time award winner of the National Scriptwriting Competition from 2001 to 2009. He has created local hit shows like Under One Roof, Growing Up, Triple Nine, and Police and Thief.
He’s the head writer of 80’s Rewind, a sitcom which won a Silver at World Emmy Awards. He’s the Executive Producer and Head Writer for two seasons of FIGHTING SPIDERS, which won Special Prize at the 2009 Seoul Drama Award Festival. He wrote the screenplay for 1965, a historical epic drama about the racial riots. His screenplay for CIRCLE LINE won BEST UNPRODUCED SCREENPLAY in the Los Angeles Fear and Fantasy Festival 2016.
He teaches screenwriting at Temasek Polytechnic and his students have won Best Screenplay at National Youth Film Awards for Soul 37, as well as Silver medals for New York Film and Tv festivals.
WEE LI LIN
Li Lin is one of the pioneer female filmmakers in Singapore. She has made numerous short films and two feature films as well as several telemovies and commercials. She has won several awards locally and internationally such as "Best Director" at the Singapore International Film Festival and a "Star Award" at the Shanghai International Film Festival for actress Joanna Dong for her starring role in Li Lin's sophomore feature "Forever". Her films have travelled to prestigious festivals such as the Tribeca Film festival in New York, Short Shorts in Tokyo, the Cairo International Film festival, the Shanghai international film festival, the Hawaii International Film Festival and many others. Li Lin did her undergrad at Brown University and her graduate studies at NYU-Tisch Asia where she studied dramatic writing under an MDA scholarship. She's also a part time lecturer at NTU and NUS teaching screenwriting for the short film. Amongst her favourite screenwriters are Ruth Prawler Jhabvala, Nora Ephron and Alexander Payne. Her favourite pastimes are watching movies and doing street photography.
For over 15 years, Peggy Ferroa has specialised in writing and directing content specific performance pieces. These commissioned pieces range from plays, musicals, multidisciplinary performances as well as scripts for screen. She works with clients from private, government and educational organisations as well as departments in museums and historic buildings. Her work extends beyond corporate clients to include community groups and she has written a variety of plays and musicals for the Peranakan community, heartlanders and students.
Peggy is also passionate about developing and delivering arts education programmes and has extensive training in arts integration and aesthetic education. She was the first group of teaching artists for the National Arts Council’s Teaching Through the Arts Programme where she used drama to help students develop a deeper understanding of concepts in mathematics and science. She has also lectured at the National Institute of Education’s master’s module on teaching in and through the arts.
For SAS, she was part of a team that developed content for ‘The Power of Stories’ a workshop for IMDA’s Human Capital Development division and Storylab Workshops, ‘Making a Scene’ and ‘Making a Bigger Scene’ for the National Library Board. She wants to help SAS develop more products to raise funds for the association, as well as awareness of the importance of the association in the creative industries.
When Karl was nine, his parents didn’t want to send him to daycare, so they plopped him down in front of a TV every day after school. The show was Days of our Lives... and that was how his exposure to film and television began.
Karl honed his craft over the next twenty years. He moved on from initially winning student awards like the Singapore Young Dramatist Award in 2007 while he was in JC, to joining the IMDA-Lasalle WritersLab program in 2017, where he studied TV writing under Emmy-nominated Shari Goodhartz as part of a new initiative to train TV writers in Singapore.
Currently, Karl is a writer for Ubisoft Singapore. His first project for the company, Skull & Bones, is a pirate fantasy set in 1721 and will launch in 2019. In addition, he continues to write freelance.
Karl hopes he can continue to learn, grow and improve in this field of screenwriting; nothing gives him a better thrill than putting all the puzzle pieces that make up a story together, in a cohesive and exciting way for audiences.
Su Ching’s work in theatre, film and television has been performed, screened and broadcast in Shanghai, Glasgow, London, New York and Singapore. Her introduction to screenwriting happened when, as a teenager, she was cast in Raintree Pictures’ Chicken Rice War. Unbeknownst to her, Singapore’s main broadcaster Mediacorp approached her mother with an offer to groom Su Ching into one of its studio artistes. Her mother said no. Su Ching went onto study Literature and Theatre Studies at Yale University, where she produced plays, and began to take her interest in dramatic writing seriously. Her one-act play Russia! was featured in the 2008 Yale Playwrights Festival.
After graduating from Yale, Su Ching worked for two years as a broadcast and print journalist in Hong Kong. She did her MFA in Dramatic Writing at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Asia (Singapore) with help from an iMDA scholarship. Her feature-length screenplay A Song and a Dance was one of ten finalists (out of 350 entries) in Orb Media’s inaugural China-Hollywood screenwriting fellowship contest.
Su Ching splits her time between Singapore, where she is a staff writer on Mediacorp Channel Five series Lion Mums, and Bangkok, where she lives with her husband and son. She is also a published poet, fiction-writer, and essayist
